Proposal Type: Regular
General Category: Pulsars
Observation Category: Galactic
Total Time Requested: 2.5 Hours
Proposal Title: Searching for Radio Pulsations from the Neutron Star in SNR G39.2-0.3
ABSTRACT:
We request 2.5 hours of telescope time to search for the radio counterpart to the X-ray-bright neutron star (NS)
recently discovered with the Chandra observatory in the supernova remnant (SNR) G39.2-0.3. This NS has all the
hallmarks of being a pulsar, but no pulsations have yet been detected from it. Our proposed search will improve
upon past blind searches of this SNR by a factor of roughly 6, and reach a constraining luminosity limit of about
2 mJy kpc 2 .
