Urgent Proposal for Radar Observations of Comet P/2005 JQ5 (Catalina)

This is an urgent prop osal to make S-band radar observations of the recently discovered comet P/2005 JQ5 (Catalina) when it makes its unusually close approach to the Earth in late June, 2005. This will b e the closest comet observed with the Arecib o radar since 1983. The main ob jective will b e to image the nucleus in delay-Doppler and thus attempt the first direct radar measurement of a comet's size.
