Proposal Title: Radar Observations of Comet 103P/Hartley 2
ABSTRACT:
We propose to make Sband radar observations of Comet 103P/Hartley 2 during its close Earth passage in
OctoberNovember 2010. The objectives will be to estimate the nucleus properties (size, shape, spin, surface
density) and to search for, and characterize, any population of large (>cmsize) ejected grains. The radar results
are expected to complement and support the EPOXI spacecraft mission flyby in November and should enhance the
overall scientific return from the Hartley 2 apparition.
