Searching for Weak, Sporadic, Millisecond Radio Bursts from Geminga

We request 5 hr of time to test the hypothesis that while Geminga is not a persistent radio pulsar, it may still show the occasional, weak single pulse (perhaps only once every few minutes or even only once an hour). Previous, deep searches for radio emission from Geminga have not focused on this possibility. Our conjecture about Geminga's radio emission is partly motivated by the discovery of the Rotating Radio Transients and also by recent results from a 350-MHz pulsar survey we have conducted with the Green Bank Telescope. Though speculative, this hypothesis can be firmly tested with Arecibo using only a small amount of telescope time. If confirmed, the consequences for radio pulsar emission models would be great.
