Proposal Title: High Precision Redshifts for Galaxies in Isolated Pairs
ABSTRACT:
High precision neutral hydrogen redshifts will be obtained for pairs of galaxies drawn from the UZC redshift
catalog, restricted to pairs that are not members of groups of three or more galaxies. The pair sample encompasses
larger magnitude di#erences than previously available, bridging the gap between earlier studies of pair dynamics
and studies of small satellite galaxies around large spirals. This will allow a determination of the extent to which
dynamical friction has influenced the orbits of the member galaxies.
