Total Time Requested: 45 Hours
Proposal Title: Timing Newly Discovered Millisecond Pulsars II
ABSTRACT:
In Arecibo proposal P1436, we were awarded 1.4 GHz pulsar search observations of 10 globular clusters (GCs). We
made these observations in June 2001 using the WAPP instrument and subsequently discovered 3 new millisecond
pulsars (MSPs) in the data. Last term we were awarded additional Arecibo time for project P1640 in order to
begin timing these new pulsars. Since then, we have discovered a new eclipsing binary millisecond pulsar in M71 |
the rst known pulsar in that cluster. We request a total of 45 hr of observations at L-band to be scheduled over
the next year to begin timing this pulsar in order to determine precise spin, astrometric, and orbital parameters
and to continue timing the 3 millisecond pulsars from project P1640. We will make use of the WAPP as well as one
or more other pulsar backends recording simultaneously.
