Proposal Title: Long-term Timing of PSR B1534+12
ABSTRACT:
We request a series of 90-minute observing runs, between 1430 and 1600 LST, once every two weeks for one year, to
continue our long-term timing observations of the double-neutron-star binary PSR B1534+12. Goals include
improvement of relativistic timing parameters, monitoring dispersion measure variations and a quantitative study
of the pro le evolution due to geodetic precession. Observations will be carried out with the 430 MHz Carriage
House and the L-band Gregorian receivers, using the Princeton Mark IV system, the WAPP in folding mode and
the new ASP instrument, and will include continuum-source calibrations at the start of each session. We will
continue to observe in parallel with the Penn State group.
