First Arecibo Aeronomy and Radio Science Summer School

The purp ose of this prop osal is to request time for educationally-motivated observing for participants in the 2004 Aeronomy and Radio Science Summer Scho ol at Arecib o Observatory. The scho ol is b eing planned for the month of August, and it is exp ected that a group of approximately 20 students will take advantage of this opp ortunity. The students will b e divided into several groups, and each group will b e carrying out an observational exp eriment. The exp eriments will require radar observations similar to the ones p erformed during regular World Days, as well as optical observations. Most of the observations will take place during the night to take advantage of the optics and to avoid conflicts with daytime lectures. This will b e the first time that the aeronomy summer scho ol is offered at Arecib o, since traditionally it was held in Alaska.
