Proposal Title: OH masers for VLBI
ABSTRACT:
Observations of a sample of OH masers which are potential candidates for further high angular resolution studies
with VLBI is proposed. The aim of this observations is to measure spectra in both main lines of OH 1665 and 1667
MHz, and in both senses of polarization. If possible, cross-polarization correlation is desirable in order to measure
linear polarization. Linearly polarized spectral features are suitable for the self-calibration of both left- and
right-polarization channels of VLBI receivers. The ux measurements of variable OH masers will help to select
candidates for a VLBI proposal in networks with Arecibo participation, including VSOP observations. The VLBI
observations will reveal masers with low interstellar scattering which will enable to study internal structure of the
maser spots and the magnetic eld.
