Going over the edge - the precessing relativistic pulsar J1906+0746 (continued)

We propose to continue the long-term monthly timing campaign on PSR J1906+0746, the relativistic binary pulsar found in the PALFA survey data. The pulse profile of this young pulsar changes from month to month, pointing to dramatic geodetic precession. From the different cuts through the pulsar emission region, we have constructed rare beam maps of both magnetic poles. Our line of sight now even appears to be approaching the edge of the emission region, and the pulsar flux has decreased enormously. Only with Arecibo/PUPPI can this beam mapping be completed, before the pulsar disappears for the next century.
