Sorry, for english - writing from home. You are right that a final judge is always
experiment. I totally agree with you. Here, however, we have a different situation.
These guys deny experiment ... Mostly it is due to the fact, that these people lack
education and do not follows scientific developments. For example AVP still thinks
that quantum mechanics cannot explain stationary states of hydrogen. Certainly, it
explains them and proof could be found in any textbook (for example, Laudau second volume) and this is known to every second year student. Moreover, the energy levels and radiative transitions are predicted and MEASURED with very high precition.
Next, these people do not believe in special relativity theory - ok but this is not
a science fiction - people already built particle accelerators, where it was checked
precisely. What is Kushelev doing is another total nonsense - he is trying to convince someone that at nanoscale there is a totally different physics - which is again wrong because we already tested matter at even smaller scales experimentally. But, common I think that people who are going to bye this stuff deserve this, because the fullishness should be punished. Another thing is what other people would think about russian science if this activity will be supported by academy. You see, I have also life experience when I participated in organization of a conference where
a lot of these guys were invited. One young guy from CERN came to me and ask what is
going on - he said that he always thought and seen a numerous examples of the fact, that russians are among smartest people on the planet. I didn't know what to say -
I was ashamed .... I think that the same Kushelev could build good resonators, as
well as AVP is good in seissmography ... And I think they spent a lot of
time to become professionals, but in science we have the same story - you should
learn and learn a lot. They decided to skip this step. Ok, good, whatever. But,
please don't ruin the prestige of russian science. It was not you who made it. |
