Abstract . Zeema n polarimetri c observation s o f th e magneti c whit e dwar f 16 PG1658+44 1 ar e presented . Th e mea n longitudina l magneti c fiel d i s 66 8 kG . Geometrica l parameter s o f th e magneti c dipol e mode l ar e restricted . Th e an gl e betwee n th e magneti c axi s an d th e lin e o f sigh t i s 4 4 9 degrees . A possibilit y o f complet e determinatio n o f al l dipol e parameter s o n th e basi s o f observation s o f th e transvers e magneti c fiel d i n th e spectra l lin e o f -component s i s discussed . Th e result s o f th e firs t suc h observation s ar e presented . Th e observation s o f 199 1 sho w a confiden t variabilit y o f th e longitudina l magneti c fiel d o n tim e scale s o f abou t 3 0 minute s an d a perio d o f 2. 5 hours . Late r observation s di d no t sho w an y variabilit y o f th e magneti c field .
