The Data Organizer uses as input a list of FITS files or MIDAS images as well as a list of MIDAS descriptors which are considered to be relevant (e.g., exposure time, telescope setting, instrument mode). Each of these descriptors is mapped into one column of a table that is called the Observation Summary Table (OST), and the corresponding information for a given input file is stored into one of its rows.
