Spicules in the solar chromosphere are the separate columns of radiant plasma, seen in the monochronical light (in the spectrum lines H, He, Ca+, etc). Their height is 6 -10 thousand kilomiters, their diameter is 200 - 2000 km, the time of life 5 - 7 minutes. There are several hundred thousands spicules on the star.
