1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed WFC 4277 (Calibration fo Nearby Galaxy Type IA Supernovae
as Standard Candles)

The Wide Field Camera was used to make one image of Cepheid variable
stars located inside galaxy NGC-5253. This will make it possible to
accurately determine the distance to this galaxy. This distance will
be used to fine the true luminosity of the type - Ia supernova which
have been observed in this galaxy. The observation was received and
displayed in the OSS. The observation was reported to be okay.

1.2 Completed Three Set of PC 4770 (WF/PC cycle 2: Internal Monitor
Proposal)

The Planetary Camera was used to make a series of nine internal
flat, dark, and bias calibration observations. All nine observations
were received in the OSS. They were reported to look okay.

1.3 Completed WFC 5010 (Determination of the Extragalactic distance
Scale. III. M-101. Recovery)

The Wide Field Camera was used to make two images of the spiral
galaxy M-101 which is located in Ursa Major looking for Cepheid
Variable stars. Both observations were received via a science tape
recorder playback in the OSS. No problems were noted.

1.4 Completed Two Sets of PC 4213 (Spectrophotometry of Lensed, "Clover
Leaf" Broad Absorption Lines)

The Planetary Camera was used to make Two observations of the
quasi-stellar object Q1413+117 (aka, The Cover Leaf). This system is
know to be lensed, and have broad absorption spectral lines. Both
observations were received vie a science tape recorder dump and
displayed in the OSS. The position of the target and intensities
were measured.

1.5 Completed PC 4393 (Disks Around Main Sequence Stars: Cycle 3 High)

The Planetary Camera was used to make seven observations of the star
HD39060 (aka, Beta Pictoris) to obtain images of the protoplanetary
disk with better resolution than previous observations. The first
six observations were displayed and co-added for the observers, who
reviewed the images. No anomalies were noted with these images. The
last observation was reported to have had a recentering event occur
during the observation. A bad data report was filed.

1.6 Completed FOC/96 4804 (UV Imaging of Nearby Galaxies with FOC/96)

The Faint Object Camera was used to make one ultraviolet snapshot
image of the nearby galaxy ESO-0307-4. The exposure lasted ten
minutes, and used filter F220W. The image was received via a science
tape recorder playback, and was reported to have the target well
centered in the field of view.

1.7 Uplinked Updated Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871

1.8 Completed FOC/96 4353 (Hubble Space Telescope Imaging of IO: cycle 3
High)

The Faint Object Camera was used to make ultraviolet and visible
images of Jupiter's moon Io to determine the abundance and
distribution of surface and atmospheric constituents, particularly
sulphur dioxide. An internal dark, and pointing adjust image were
also taken. An observation was made to verify that the correct
filter was in place, and a corrective maneuver was successfully
uplinked. The observations of the moon Io were reported to look
fine.
