DAILY REPORT #1481

PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 09/21/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 09/22/95

Daily Status Report as of 265/0000Z

1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6192 (CTE Calibration)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the globular cluster
Omega-Cent in order to conduct a Charge Transfer Efficiency (CTE)
calibration. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies
were noted.

1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6041 (A Multi-Faceted Study of Eta Carnina)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of Eta-Carnina to test many
different theoretical points. The observations were executed as scheduled,
and no anomalies were noted.

1.3 Completed GHRS/1/2 6024 (The Ultraviolet Emissions of Titan)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Both Sides One and Two) were used to
make far ultraviolet spectrographic observations of emissions from Saturn's
largest moon Titan. Emissions are expected from atomic and molecular neutral
and ionized species of atmospheric gases. The observations were completed as
planned, and no anomalies were noted.

1.4 Completed GHRS/1/2 6008 (The Atmosphere of IO and Its Interaction With
the Plasma Torus)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Both Sides One and Two) were used to
make spectrographic observations of the atmosphere of Jupiter's moon Io
during egress from the planets shadow. This is to study temporal changes in
the emission lines of O and S. The observations were completed as planned,
and no anomalies were noted.

1.5 Completed GHRS/1 6209 (GL140L Photocathode Granularity Test for High
S/N Stability)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make
ultraviolet observations using Detector #1 of standard star BD+75D325 in
order to conduct a photocathode granularity test for high signal to noise
ratio stability. A flat field was obtained by obtaining the spectra at
different locations on the photocathode. The observations were completed as
planned, and no problems were reported.

1.6 Completed FOS/BL 6166 (FOS Cycle 5: Location of Spectra and Wavelength
Calibration)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make wavelength
calibration images to measure the stability of the FOS Blue Side wavelength
scale and spectral locations. A Taled calibration observations was also
taken. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were
reported.
