1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed FOS/RD 6080 (Rotation and Kinematics of Blue Stragglers =
in 47 Tuc)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make =
spectrographic observations for blue straggler stars located in 47 Tuc =
(aka, NGC-104) in order to study the rotation and radial velocity of these =
stars. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies =
were noted.

1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6189 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal =
Monitor - Vis Flats)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal visual flat calibration =
images. Both photometric and narrow-band filters were used. The =
observations were executed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.3 Completed FOS/BL 5851 (Post Asymptotic Giant Branch Evolution in =
the Magellanic Clouds)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make =
ultraviolet observations of the planetary nebula SMC-SMP02 which is =
located in the Small Magellanic Cloud. Extensive ground-based and HST =
observations and imaging work has already been done on this object. The =
observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6119 (Snapshot Survey for Companions =
of Planetary Nebula Nuclei)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot survey observations of =
planetary nebulae NGC-6572 and NGC-2346 to study their nuclei and to look =
for possible companions. During the second iteration of this proposal, =
an FGS acquisition, described in 2.1, failed. Otherwise, the observations =
were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 6250 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal =
Monitor)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make a series of internal calibration =
observations. Internal flats, biases, and K-Spot calibration images were =
taken. These observations are designed to monitor the health of the =
cameras. During this proposal, there were two FHST update failures, =
described in 2.2. There was no report of possible effects on science.

1.6 Completed FGS 6268 (The Parallax of NGC-6853)

The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations in order =
measure the parallax to NGC-6853, one of the nearest planetary neabulae. =
Observations were also taken of several reference stars. During this =
observation, the guide star acquisition failed. This event is described =
in 2.1. Otherwise, the observations were executed as planned, and no =
problems were reported.

1.4 Completed Two Sets of WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - =
Cycle 5)

The WF/PC-2 was use to make random long exposures of high galactic =
fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a =
random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, =
and no anomalies were noted.

1.8 Completed FGS 6325 (Monitor the Long-Term Stability for FGS #3 =
Still)

FGS#3 was used to make observations of standard star OF957, and =
several reference stars which are located in the star cluster M-35 in =
order to monitor the long-term internal stability of the FGS unit. The =
observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted.

1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program)

The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking =
ultraviolet observations running concurrent with prime science =
observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with =
flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. =
The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.10 Completed WF/PC-2 6187 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Earth Flats)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth streak flat calibration images. =
These streak flats will be used to produce flat fields, to map the OTA =
illumination pattern and, in combination with other data, to produce new =
superflats. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems =
were reported.

1.11 Completed FOS/BL 6166 (FOS Cycle 5: Location of Spectra and =
Wavelength Calibration)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make =
wavelength calibration images to measure the stability of the FOS Blue =
Side wavelength scale and spectral locations. The observations were =
completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported.

1.12 Completed FGS 6264 (Parallax of RR-Lyrae)

The FGSs were used to make astrometric observations of the variable =
star RR-Lyrae in order to measure its parallax. RR-Lyrae is the =
proto-type for a class of variable stars whose pulsation periods correlate =
with their absolute magnitudes. The observations were completed as =
planned, and no problems were reported.

1.13 Completed WF/PC-2 5996 (The Morphology of Field Galaxies at High =
Redshifts)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of several field galaxies =
(Field 2217) in order to study their morphologies. The observations were =
completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported.

1.14 Completed WF/PC-2 5914 (The Formation History of Globular Clusters =
in M-33)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make V and I observations of globular =
cluster NGC-598-U13 which is located in the M-33 galaxy in order to study =
its formation history. Color-magnitude diagrams made from these images =
will be examined for evidence of a parameter, other than metallicity, that =
influences the evolutionary development of stars. The observations were =
executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.15 Completed WF/PC-2 5968 (Extragalactic Background Light)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make direct observations of the magnitude =
and color of the diffuse extragalactic background light. Knowledge of the =
value of the integrated optical flux of this background is of fundamental =
importance to cosmology. A dark and bias observations were also taken. =
The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were =
reported.

1.16 Completed WF/PC-2 6184 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Photometric Calibration =
Monitor UV/OPT STD)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet and optical observations =
of standard star GRW+70D582 in order to monitor the photometric =
calibrations of the camera and to check for decontamination. The =
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.17 Completed FOS/RD 6050 (Spectrographic and Photometric Study of the =
very Low Mass Triple System)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (ResSide) was used to make =
spectrographic observations of the very low mass triple star system =
LHS1070-A which has a high proper motion, high internal motions, and has =
annual parallax of 0.13". The observations were completed as planned, and =
no problems were reported.

1.18 Completed WF/PC-2 5971 (HST Medium Deep Survey)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make a long exposure medium deep sky survey =
observations at latitudes larger than 10 degrees taken in parallel with =
the prime science observations. The observations were executed as =
scheduled, and no anomalies were noted

1.19 Completed WF/PC-2 5913 (Low-Mass Binaries and Luminosity Fuction)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the low-mass binary =
system MT003 (Late Type Class M dwarf stars). The intent is to determine =
why the local stellar luminosity function is flat below Mv=3D12, while =
that found from more distant stars falls by an order of magnitude by =
Mv=3D14. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies =
were noted.

2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY:

2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions:

Scheduled Acquisitions : 15
Successful : 13

The FHST update failures, mentioned in 2.2, caused
the acquisitions at 301/012603Z and 301/021002Z to
fail. A subsequent ARU/PRT corrected the attitude
error. HSTAR 5344 was written.

Scheduled Reacquisitions : 27
Successful : 27

2.2 FHST Updates:

Scheduled : 35
Successful : 33

There were failures at 301/002331Z and 301/002616Z
because of an attitude error. HSTAR 5344 described
these events.

2.3 Operations Notes:

HSTAR 5343 was written to document an FGS-1B star
selector comp error exceeding the +10 volt limit for
approximately one second. This event occurred at
300/221325Z.

3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS:

Nothing at this time.
