COS Cycle-17 Calibration Phase-1 Template Last Revised: Proposal ID: 11894 Title: NUV Detector Dark Monitor PI: T. Ake Co-I(s): P. Goudfrooij C. Keyes D. Sahnow --------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Orbit estimates are TOTAL for all of cycle-17; assume 4 weeks # 01 March 2009, 01 September 2009, 01 March 2010 Total Prime Orbits: 0 External Parallel Orbits: 0 Internals or no-impact orbits: 130 Comments on orbit estimate: if starting Dec. 2008 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- # This section should be written with a GO audience in mind -- use # Calibration plans in WFPC-2 handbook as a guide. Purpose: Perform routine monitoring of MAMA detector dark current. The main purpose is to look for evidence of a change in the dark, both to track on-orbit time dependence and to check for a detector problem developing. Description: Take ~25 min exposure with the NUV MAMA with shutter closed, twice a week. Accuracy: 1% Comments on Accuracy: (Each measurement to yield a Poisson uncertainty of 1% for global dark rate.) Products: CDBS Dark and Bad Pixel reference files; ISR --------------------------------------------------------------------------- # THE REST OF THIS FORM IS FOR INTERNAL USE --------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Target information (copy for each target) Target Name.............................: DARK RA.............................................: n/a Dec...........................................: n/a Flux (and units)........................: n/a Visibility window (if known or relevant): n/a Comment on choice of target: n/a # Table of exposures (copy for each exposure): Target or lamp..........................: DARK Type of Acquisition.....................: N/A Detector for observation................: NUV MAMA Operating mode .........................: TIME-TAG Spectral Element........................: DEF Aperture................................: DEF Central Wavelength......................: Exposure Time...........................: 1330.0 S Number of Iterations ...................: 1 BOP Predicted Local Count Rate for MAMA.: BOP Predicted Global Count Rate for MAMA: ETC PID IDs for Count Rates.............: Special Requirements or options.........: Comments: Target or lamp..........................: DARK Type of Acquisition.....................: N/A Detector for observation................: NUV MAMA Operating mode .........................: TIME-TAG Spectral Element........................: DEF Aperture................................: DEF Central Wavelength......................: Exposure Time...........................: 1330.0 S Number of Iterations ...................: 1 BOP Predicted Local Count Rate for MAMA.: BOP Predicted Global Count Rate for MAMA: ETC PID IDs for Count Rates.............: Special Requirements or options.........: Comments: Less than 6 days after visit 1 Target or lamp..........................: DARK Type of Acquisition.....................: N/A Detector for observation................: NUV MAMA Operating mode .........................: TIME-TAG Spectral Element........................: DEF Aperture................................: DEF Central Wavelength......................: Exposure Time...........................: 1330.0 S Number of Iterations ...................: 1 BOP Predicted Local Count Rate for MAMA.: BOP Predicted Global Count Rate for MAMA: ETC PID IDs for Count Rates.............: Special Requirements or options.........: Comments: Less than 6 days after visit 1 Target or lamp..........................: DARK Type of Acquisition.....................: N/A Detector for observation................: NUV MAMA Operating mode .........................: TIME-TAG Spectral Element........................: DEF Aperture................................: DEF Central Wavelength......................: Exposure Time...........................: 1330.0 S Number of Iterations ...................: 1 BOP Predicted Local Count Rate for MAMA.: BOP Predicted Global Count Rate for MAMA: ETC PID IDs for Count Rates.............: Special Requirements or options.........: Comments: Less than 6 days after visit 1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Special needs of this proposal?
