While you will not actually write proposals, the PIs will ask you questions about how to write proposals. So it's a good idea to try and see things from their perspective.

Prerequisites:

Introduction to the Institute and documentation
How to use the Astronomer's Proposal Tool (APT)

Activities:

Use PED to write the proposal.
Process the proposal with RPS2 and review the results.
Compare the output file to the real proposal.
Figure out which differences are "style", which are due to ambiguity in the English and which are mistakes.

Objective: Put the Proposal Instructions, PED, and RPS2 into context.

Estimated time to complete: By the end of week two.
