Vicki got a message from the MOC that they had lost the PORTS and
TAC because of a computer crash. She relayed this to Manfred at about
6:15 AM EDT and he went to the MOC to find out what was going on. As of
08:15AM EDT, they have not been able to get the backup system going.
Attempts to get SAMS up have also failed. Since the last command of
each load is a auto-safing command in case of lost contact, the HST
will safe itself unless they regain a command link with it. Manfred is
attempting to find out the exact predicted time of the safing.

Actions:
We are monitoring the situation and John Bacinski is printing out the
graphical timeline so that the we will know the state of the instruments
when the safing takes place.

So far we are dealing only with potential loss of science data. I hope that
the MOC wins the race.
