Subject: HST is in Safe Mode

HST entered sun-pointing safe mode at 10:24:17 UT this morning, about
three hours ago. The cause is a problem with SADE 2R (the Solar Array
Drive Electronics), and the symptoms are very similar to an event that
occurred in 1997. The instruments are in their proper configurations,
but I know little else at this time. Current plans are for some tests
in the VEST tomorrow, with expectations for recovery tomorrow night, but
that's tentative. More information later once more is known.
