In response to the anomaly of the SSR 1 (HSTAR 13012), the anomaly
briefing at 2:00 was held.б  Charts are posted on the Systems Management
site.б  The conclusion at the meeting was the most likely scenario was a
Reed-Solomon error occurred in the SAA.б  The documentation describes the
potential for bus errors during record or playback to cause the software
to hang waiting for the reed solomon to finish.б  The symptom of this
problem is that a record or playback session can be started but the record
and playback pointers will not move.б  The response is to determine if the
reed solomon is hung by sending a 1773 raw read command to read RT 10, SA
8.б  If the data is 0x8001 then send the 1773 raw write command to RT 10,
SA 8, DATA=0x0040 to reset the reed Solomon.б  Analysis by both the
Operations team and the HW tiger team concurred with this conclusion.
б
Commanding to reset SSR 1 was successfully executed at 256/21:00.б  Ops
Request 19131 was executed and verified the 8001 pattern indicating the
Reed-Solomon error.б  The error was then cleared and the 0040 pattern was
observed as desired.б  The FOT then successfully dumped the Science data
off of SSR 1.б  Engineering Recording was also observed to be successful on
SSR 1. б Ops Request 19133 was executed (21:46) to reset the Logical
Science Recorder configuration back to nominal operations.б  HST will
resume Automated Operations.
б
In summary, no science data was lost as a result of the anomaly.б б  Our
thanks to the FOT and DMS for their work throughout the day to keep on
track with the SSR volume using SSR 3 and scheduling extra supports.б  Also
thanks to STScI for their work in preparation for contingency SMS products
in case the error could not be cleared in a timely fashion. б Thanks to the
VEST team for executing a rush test to verify the commanding prior to
execution on orbit.б б
