We present kinematical data and a line profile shape analysis for the major and the minor axis of NGC 2974. On the major axis, as would be expected if a disk is present, the line profiles are very asymmetric away from the center, with the asymmetry changing sign upon going from one side of the nucleus to the other.
Dynamical models are constructed that take account of the presence of
an exponential disk in the equatorial plane of the galaxy. The Jeans
equations are solved to predict the rotation velocities and velocity
dispersions of both the spheroid and the disk. Line profile shapes are
predicted assuming that both the spheroid and the disk have a Gaussian
line profile. Models are constructed that provide an acceptable fit to
all the available photometrical and kinematical data, including the
line profiles. In these models the disk contributes 5-10% of the total
light of the galaxy. The derived inclination of the disk is consistent
with observations of neutral and ionized gas in this galaxy. Models
without a disk cannot fit the data.
