Dr Reid,

Table 2 in your recently accepted paper (MS 202283) has
been selected to have a formated ASCII copy posted with the electronic
edition. This machine readable table is distinguished by a meta-data header
which allows readers an easy way to access and manipulate the data.
The decision was based on the fact your table contain a significant
amount of information that would be useful to the astronomical
community in a machine readable format.
The table is now complete and I am including it at the end
of this message. Could you please check the accuracy of the table
as soon as possible. I request that you particularly check the units and
the short description columns in the meta-data header. See

Note (1): An uncertainty of {+/-} 0.0 km/s indicates e_Dis < 0.1 pc.
Note (2):
1 = trigonometric parallax from the Hipparcos catalogue (ESA, 1997);
2 = PMSU1 (Reid et al., 1995). The relative weights given to trigonometric
and spectroscopic parallax measurements are listed in column Com:
for example, 85/15 indicates that 85% of the weight rests with
{pi}_trig_;
3 = trigonometric parallax from pCNS3 (Jahreiss & Gliese, 1991).
Note (3): Usually from either PMSU3 or Delfosse et al. (1998), but see notes
to column Com. The echelle data are accurate to {+/-} 1 km/s; the
low-resolution data are accurate to {+/-} 10 km/s.
Note (4): From either Hipparcos data (r_Dis = 1) or the pCNS3.
Note (5): Where, following PMSU3, a negative value indicates absorption.
Note (6): The relative weights of the trigonometric/spectroscopic parallax
measurements contributing to column Dis are given (see above);
`low-res' indicates that the star has no PMSU3 echelle observations,
