Meta Index / Home Page / Description
lccorr
is a complicated task and has not yet been rigorously tested and debugged in its entirety. Pressure to deliver the task into the public arena has also meant that the developer has had to release it before cleaning up all of the rough edges. The attention of the user is directed in particular to the following caveats:
- Sources which have extraction regions overlapping more than one CCD will not be properly corrected.
- lccorr
has only been tested on EPIC-MOS imaging-mode data. At present, it is recommended that lccorr
should not be used to correct time series made from the PN data. The developer has not had the opportunity to consider treatment of PN data at all. The task may not even run to completion on such data.
- The attitude is assumed to be stable throughout the duration of the time series. If this is not the case, the correction may be suspect.
- Loss of events due to pileup is not corrected. This effects worst bright sources with sudden spikes in emission.
- Timing and burst mode are not yet supported.
- For the present, spectral information cannot be supplied to lccorr. The task assumes internally a flat spectrum.
- The task can not yet extract energy bounds from the time series, independent of the DSS.
