KEY WORDS: Dictyopharidae, Dictyophara, new subgenera. КЛЮЧЕВЫЕ СЛОВА: Dictyopharidae, Dictyophara, новые подроды. ABSTRACT. Dictyophara Germar, 1833 is divided into 5 subgenera: Dictyophara s.str., Chanithus Kolenati, 1857, Ancylocrius subgen.n. (type species Dictyophara albata Dlabola & Heller, 1962), Euthremma subgen.n. (type species Dictyophara multireticulata Mulsant & Rey, 1855) and Conopenchus subgen.n. (type species Philotheria pazukii Dlabola, 1984). РЕЗЮМЕ. РодDictyopharaGermar, 1833 разделен на 5 подродов: Dictyophara s.str., Chanithus Kolenati, 1857, Ancylocrius subgen.n. (типовой вид: Dictyophara albata Dlabola & Heller, 1962),Euthremma subgen.n. (типовой вид: Dictyophara multireticulata Mulsant & Rey, 1855) и Conopenchus subgen.n. (типовой вид: Philotheria pazukii Dlabola, 1984). The natural genus Dictyophara Germar, 1833 is restricted to the Palaearctic, with most species distributed in the southern part of its western half. Currently, the genus numbers 40 species. Wide variability is notable in secondary characters, especially the length, thickness and general shape of the cephalic process. Meantime, the shape of the cephalic process is sometimes similar, due convergence, in different genera, including not related ones. This fact lead in the past to formation of unnatural generic units; for instance, the genusChanithus Kolenati, 1857 comprised unrelated species with long and thick cephalic process. R. Linnavuori [1962] has shown that Chanithus in its natural scope (type species and related species) is a junior synonym ofDictyophara. On the other hand, J. Dlabola [1979, 1984] erroneously described two species of Dictyophara with thin cephalic process in the Afrotropical genus Philotheria Melichar. The genus Dictyophara can be subdivided into five subgenera as follows:
1(6). Cephalic process cuneiform, comparatively short; its apex narrow to subacuminate. 2(5). Lateral carinae of coryphe straight or slowly, regularly arched, without tortuosity before eyes.
Printed in 2004.

3(4). Cephalic process bent, beck-shaped; its apex directed anteroventrad. Lateral carinae of coryphe raised or nearly foliaceous .................................... Ancylocrius subgen.n. 4(3). Cephalic process straight, cuneiform-pyramidal; its apex directed anterodorsad. Lateral carinae of coryphe sharp, but not raised .............................. Euthremma subgen.n. 5(2). Lateral carinae of coryphe with tortuosity before eyes ............................................................ Dictyophara s.str. 6(1). Cephalic process long, nearly cylindrical; its apex roundly truncate. 7(8). Cephalic process thick. Coryphe between eyes and on process of similar breadth ............... Chanithus Kolenati 8(7). Cephalic process thin. Coryphe as well as metope and preocular area immediately before eyes abruptly contracted .............................................. Conopenchus subgen.n.

The main differences between the subgenusConopenchus of Dictyophara and the genus Philotheria Melichar, 1912 are as follows:

1(2). Median carina of metope absent on cephalic process. Coryphe rather broad between eyes, narrowing on cephalic process. Carinae on mesepisterna weak .................. ................................. Dictyophara (subg. Conopenchus) 2(1). Median carina of metope present on cephalic process. Coryphe rather narrow between eyes, moderately narrowing on cephalic process. Carinae on mesepisterna sharp .............................................................. Philotheria s.str.
