На недавней 206-й Конференции Американского астрономического общества был представлен доклад об открытии, сделанном с помощью космического телескопа Galaxy Evolution Explorer, работающего в УФ-диапазоне длин волн. 24 апреля 2004 г. этот телескоп зафиксировал резкое увеличение яркости относительно недалекой звезды GJ 3685A.
