Wideband focused array transducer for optoacoustic tomography

A m e thod for calculation of the param e ters of wideba nd f o cused array transduce r from the required im age re solution in opt oa coustic tom ography has been devel ope d. Several sets of array transducer para m e ters for various pr oblem s of o p t o a c o u s t i c tomography have been calc ulated using the devel ope d m e thod. Maps of the transducers focal area have been numerically calculated for the obtaine d param e ters. Resolution i n di rection perpendicular to the image plane and length of the imaging window has been estimat ed from the maps. Good agreement between the required an d obtained param e ters dem onstrates the adequacy of proposed m e thod. 8 - elemen t tran sdu c er fo r op to acou stic tom o graphy of biological objects has bee n de vel ope d. The tra n s d uce r cons ists of the set of the linear PVDF piezoelectric films located on a p l an e and focu sed by an acou stic len s . M a p of transducer focal area has b een experime ntally measured. Image of a focused point sour ce has be en pl otte d base d on experimentally obtained signals.
