Abstract of diploma thesis by Tennikov A.G. n: "Optical imaging of blood vessels by spatially resolved reflectometry". The aim of this work was to study a possibility of implementing spatially resolve reflectometry for imaging blood vessels in skin on physical models (phantoms). We developed an easy-to-handle experimental setup, which includes a laser diode operating in continuous wave and amplitude-modulated mode, multi-channel fiber optic probe and different physical models simitating skin bwith blood vessels. Using this experimental setup we measured the intensity of light for different light source-detector separations, different diameters, orientations and imbedding depths of the vessels. We compared the experimental results with the results of Monte-Carlo and Discrete Ordinate method simulations. This comparison showed qualitative agreement of the results. We measured and analyzed the alterations in the visualization pattern due to the displacement of the laser source relative to the blood vessel. Also, basing on our experimental results we made estimates of orientations and imbedding depths of the vessels. Supervisor: Alexander V. Priezzhev
