The characteristics of a surface magnetoelastic wave convolver based on a Ga, Sc Б.. substituted yttrium iron garnet ferrite film on a gadolinium gallium garnet substrate (Ga,Sc:YIG/GGG) were experimentally studied. The magnetic film was 30-60 microns thick with saturation magnetization of 200-300 G. Surface Rayleigh acoustic waves were excited in Ga,Sc:YIG/GGG using a bridge scheme. The bias magnetic field was taken to be in parallel with the wave propagation. Input signals had the following characteristics: carrier frequency of 90-150 MHz, power of 1 W, pulse duration of 1 microsecond. The output signal of doubled frequency was received using a pick-up-coil placed close to the ferrite film surface and was oriented perpendicularly to the wave propagation. A maximum convolution was observed when the bias magnetic field of 25-45 Oe provided the doubled frequency equal to a long-wavelength boundary of the magnetostatic excitation spectrum or close to it. The internal efficiency of the operation for the maximum convolution amplitude was no less than Б..56 dBm.
