Method
to detect solitons and determine their parameters and propagation velocity,
based on the solution of the scattering problem for the Derivative Nonlinear
Schrodinger (DNLS) equation, is proposed. The integrated scattering coefficient
has been used as a detector of the DNLS solitons. Application of this technique
to numerically simulated signals showed that it is more efficient than standard
Fourier transform and can be developed into practical tool for the analysis of
outputs from nonlinear systems.
