Alexander Valeryevich Pozdneev, Ph.D. (Candidate of physico-mathematical sciences), teaching assistant (assistant professor)

Alexander Valeryevich POZDNEEV (November 22, 1983, Novosibirsk, Russia) ? teaching assistant (assistant professor).

Graduated with honours from the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics (CMC) at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) (2006). Succesfully completed postgraduate study at the Faculty of CMC at Lomonosov MSU (2009).

Defended Ph.D thesis on the subject ?Mathematical Modelling of Ions Motion in Mass Spectrometers? (scientific supervisor ? professor А.М. Popov) (2009).

Member of SIAM (since 2008) and ACM (since 2009). He is a member of the IBM Academic Initiative (since 2010).

Fellowship recipient of Intel Higher Education Program (2006, 2007); recipient of President of Russia scholarship for Ph.D. students (2008). Alexander Pozdneev has been awarded with the scholarship for young teachers and researchers of the CMC faculty (2010).

Alexander Pozdneev works at Lomonosov MSU since 2009: research fellow (2009–2010). teaching assistant (assistant professor) (since 2010) at the Department of Automation for Scientific Research at the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics. He participates in administration of the Faculty's high performance computing facilities [in Russian]. He is a member of the Board of Young Scientists of the MSU CMC Faculty [in Russian] (since 2009). He alse serves as an executive secretary of the MSU CMC Faculty Admission Office [in Russian] (since 2010).

Scientific interests: mathematical modelling in mass spectrometry, numerical simulation of plasma by use of particle-in-cell methods, parallel algorithms in computational physics, parallel and high performance algorithms for numerical linear algebra, domain decomposition methods for finite element method.

Alexander Pozdneev is a head of the "The development of promising numerical algorithms for supercomputers and performance analysis tools for distributed computing systems" project (2010–2012), a participant of the "Nonlinear and stochastic models for computational plasma physics" project (2009–2011), a member of the «Mathematical methods, computational technologies and their applications» Research and Education Center group, working on the "The development of mathematical methods, numerical algorithms and their applications in natural science" project (2009–2011) — all the projects are supported by the Federal Target Program "Scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of the innovative Russia". He participates in a research on the "Mathematical modelling for high-temperature plasma and computational nanotechnologies" project (2008–2010), supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

Alexander Pozdneev had performed research as a visiting scientist at the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics (AMOLF) (Netherlands, 2006).

Alexander Pozdneev is an instructor at ?Programming, Numerical Methods and Informatics? course for students of the Faculty of Geology at Lomonosov MSU.
