The article attempts to consider new means of mass communication in terms of their possible application in the current political management, and analysis of challenges facing modern society, risks and challenges associated with today's global information and communication revolution. The results of analysis of the communication space show that today the society is divided into two main groups by the method of obtaining information: through the traditional media and using media resources online. Moreover, if the traditional media remains the classic model of asynchronous communication with the masses, online space for the production and dissemination of information is used mainly for horizontal communication between users. This leads to the necessity of developing new models of mass communication, suitable for effective implementation in the online space. Furthermore, the development of new media creates new threats that could directly affect the distribution of power within society, as well as the configuration of contemporary political regimes.
