SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
The energetic issue is of paramount importance for our modern industrialized society, and is probably the most striking challenge we have began to face at the beginning of this century. The search for efficient, clean and affordable power generation technologies is a key element in any sustainable development policy. Companies and public institutions all around the world have committed themselves to investing more and more in research programs focussed on renewable and non-conventional energy sources. Material and polymer sciences and nanosciences may supply an important contribution to the development of such energy sources. Energy generation from sun or hydrogen and energy storage will be the key topics this conference will deal with. This EUPOC conference will bring together experts in a selected group of topics that encompass polymer and materials preparation and characterization, electrochemistry, photophysics, nanoscience and nanotechnology. The goal is to provide a broader context of scientific exchange along the themes of third generation polymeric and organic photovoltaic cells, photoelectrochemical cells for hydrogen generation from water, proton exchange membrane fuel cells, advanced polymers for hydrogen storage and conductive polymers for batteries and supercapacitors fabrication.

THE EUROPOLYMER CONFERENCES
Starting from 1998 EPF has decided to organize a series of Europolymer Conferences (EUPOC) on topics of actual scientific and industrial interest. That taking place in Gargnano on the Lake Garda (Italy) is a Conference limited to 100 participants, the venue being the Palazzo Feltrinelli kindly offered by the University of Milano. The scientific programme consists of invited lectures, oral communications and posters. Ample space is given to the free discussion favoured by the residential style of the Conference. The titles of previous Europolymer Conferences (2001-2007) are: · Polymeric Nanocomposites: Design, Properties & Applications · Polymeric Gels: Interesting Synthetic and Natural Soft Materials · Stereospecific Polymerization and Stereoregular Polymers · Organized, Polymer-based Structures in Water and Their Applications · Polymers in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology · Branched macromolecular structures · From Polymer Structure and Rheology to Process Modeling

Organized by: Italian Association of Macromolecular Science and Technology (AIM), with the contribution of University of Milano
