International Symposium "Erosion and sediment yields in the changing environment" OCT. 11-15 2012 CHENGDU, CHINA

1. BACKGROUND
The ICCE is one of five commissions of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS). The field of interests of the ICCE may be broadly defined as including the erosion, transport and deposition of sediment and the interaction of these processes with other components of the environment. The international symposium of ICCE is held every two years. 2010 International Symposium on "Sediment dynamics for a changing future" was held by International Commission on Continental Erosion (ICCE) on June 14-18th, 2010 in W arsaw, Poland. During the meeting, ICCE Presidium discussed the details for the 2012 ICCE International Symposium. The 2012 ICCE International Symposium will be held in Chengdu, China. Chengdu Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE) have been successful in the bid for the right to host it. The Conference theme is "Erosion and sediment yields in the changing environment". The size of the symposium in 2012 was initially identified 120 foreign guests and 60 domestic participants.

2. TOPICS
The Chengdu ICCE'2012 Symposium will focus on both erosion and sediment yields in the changing environment, considering: Dynamics processes of erosion and sediment transport in fluvial systems; Impacts of climate change and human activities on erosion and sediment yields; Erosion and sediment yields modeling Mountain hazards and debris flows; Monitoring and tracing methodology.
