Dear colleagues!

By good tradition, in the eve of 2008 year I appeal to Rectors and
Presidents of Russia's institutions of higher education, and, equally,
to all those who share the philosophy and principles of Russia
Rectors' Union.

From its foundation and up till now our Union and every member of
our community regarded as a matter of paramount importance the
training of highest level specialists, based upon the recent
scientific knowledge and high technologies. Equally important is the
fostering the feeling of civil responsibility in every new specialist
for the fortune of Russia- the Motherland.

The time proves that this objective, considered illusive over the
last fifteen years by many, nevertheless turned out to be true and
inspiring.
Strategic direction of innovative development, adopted by the
State, and objectives to raise country's intellectual potential,
successfully implemented by system support of the Higher School, prove
that the policy, chosen by our Union, is correct.


It is my deep belief that all the Higher School of our country
will accept the new strategy as its own and, implementing it, acquire
the new character. It will soon allow us again to define the Russian
educational system as the best in the world!




Now we can see the innovative activity and initiatives of many
higher education institutions in Russia. The next step - in the year
2008 - is to transfer this tendency and interest to all of them.

I wish you, dear friends, optimism, persistence and creative
endeavor in all your labours and undertakings in the name of future
generations and the fortune of Russia!
