Dear colleagues! In advance of the beginning 2012-2013 academic year I am appealing to you with words of welcome on the event of the 1st of September­ Day of Knowledge! For scientific and educational society this day is the most exact metronome which counts the change of stages, generations and achievements of higher educational institutions. This day puts new questions and gives rise to daring plans of many thousands of professors and teachers of our homeland higher school. I am convinced that we shall fulfill the tasks which have been set to us by our government. The basis of certainty is the unity of rectors' corporation during its movement to new quality of education, our unshakeable collective nature in searching for most efficient ways of development. The Russian Rectors' Union, being established on democratic them nowadays, filling them consequently with the principle of network educational institutions. The result from this educational institutions' network partnership is a significant status growth of Boards of Rectors in federal subjects, which play more and more visible role in development policy of their regions. Nowadays territorial development programs are actively formed in the scope of Boards of Rectors, which unite development strategies of educational establishments with those of regions and industries. Regional suggestions of RUR are always prepared on the base of regional boards' position to most important matters of scientific and educational policy of Russia, including the most recently matters ­ to the draft of Education Law, higher educational institutions evaluation criteria, work with talented youth, and many others. The collective nature is the base of force and power of our organization, it makes the prospect of its stability, because the achievements of each separate university comprise to the triumph of entire higher education community and to the success of our country. Dear colleagues, I wish you to conquer new intellectual peaks ­ for the benefit of Alma Mater and for the development of Russian educational traditions!
