Lomonosov Moscow State University Science Park as direct access to Russian innovative ecosystem

MSU Science Park is the oldest of the operating technoparks in Russia. The management company was established in 1992 and first buildings were put into operation in 1994. In 1999 MSU Science Park has become the first technopark in Eastern Europe certified to UNIDO standards.

Nowadays MSU Science Park provides office and laboratory premises in the center of Moscow in the close vicinity to the best University in Russia. The buildings of Science Park are located in the territory of Lomonosov Moscow State University campus next to Botanical Garden. One hundred twenty technological (IT, industrial engineering, medical devices and oil&gas services) companies are the residents of the Science Park.

The critical competitive advantage of the site is the proximity to Lomonosov MSU. Residents of the Science Park undertake joint studies with MSU laboratories and hire university graduates. A number of centers for collective use equipped with state-of-the-art equipment are operating at MSU, including center for preclinical trials, center of nano-materials, center of materials testing and others. Location on site of MSU Science Park has important reputational impact on technological start-ups in Russia.

Apart from MSU proximity Science Park offers its residents free parking, round-the-clock access to offices, high-speed Internet, excellent conference hall and meeting rooms with telepresence system. Next to MSU Science Park there are a number of restaurants, a hotel and in 2016 there is going to be a metro station.

Among our clients are Russian development institutes and international organizations. We have specially designed programs of soft-landing for international high-tech companies. Our lawyers provide legal support in Russian courts, intellectual property defense and necessary license and permit arrangements for our residents. For 23 years MSU Science Park has been a reliable partner for business development in Russia.

The MSU Science Park Mission

Our mission is to stimulate innovation within the university with activities designed to bring about structural changes in Moscow’s economy. We aim to create an environment in which the scientific potential and innovative capacity of our personnel - research scientists, post-graduate and undergraduate students of Moscow State University - can thrive and prosper.

Guiding principles

1. Creation of favorable start-up conditions for the subdivisions of Moscow State University that are planning to set up spin-off companies; also for scientists, post-graduate, graduate and undergraduate students who are planning to set up their own high-tech businesses;
2. To create a positive environment in which existing small and medium innovation companies as well as start-up companies can co-operate with the university to make mutually beneficial use of its human resources and scientific potential.

Today, Moscow State University Science Park has more than 11,500 square meters of University accommodation, 82 small and medium scientific, technological and service enterprises operating in its grounds, and more than 2,500 employees. The value of products and services offered by companies operating in the Science Park amounts to an average of about 5 billion rubles per year.

Enterprises that are residents, former residents and partners of the Science Park regularly appear in the top ranks for innovative, high-tech companies as rated by TechUspekh, Cnews, Expert RA, Global Msk.

A good example:

Five companies resident in MSU Science Park were listed amongst the top 50 by “TechUspekh” in their rating of the Top 100 innovative Russian companies.

According to both the Expert rating agency and CNews Analytics, Bank Soft Systems, known as BSS is listed as the 35th largest Russian IT company and is ranked in 11th place as one of the fastest-growing IT companies in the Country. Bank Soft Systems was founded in 1994 in MSU Science Park by Alexey Popov, a graduate of the Moscow State University Physics department.

The RTKOMM.RU joint stock company was founded in February 2000 in MSU Science Park. According to data from GlobalMSK, this company lies in 32nd place in the “Communication services and Internet” category.
