Absence
of significant discrimitative features between Bobrinskii's
and Gobi serotines were shown on the basis of nuclear and
mitochondrial DNA sequencing and skull morphometrics. Thus
the first one should be treated as a smaller subspecies of
the latter, Eptesicus gobiensis bobrinskoi (Artyushin
et al., 2012; Acta Chiropt., 14(2))
Recently
two bats were found hibernating between the window frames
of the local comprehensive school in Kashira. Bat were found
to be subadult females of Pipistrellus kuhlii, representing
second record of the species in the Moscow region (about 40
km eastward from the previous one). Paper on this subject
is in the preparation (E.I. Kozhurina, pers. comm.)
Resuts
of DNA Barcoding of bats from russia and adjacent territories
have been published. Occurence of previously reported phylogenetic
splits between West and East Palaearctic bats was supposrted.
Contrary, genetic diversity between accepted subspecies in
Myotis blythii, Vespertilio murinus and Murina
hilgendorfi was not found. Suggestions about species level
of the Siberian mouse-eared bat and its valid name were made
(Kruskop et al., 2012; Acta Chiropterologica, 14(1))
On
the basis of mtDNA analysis traces of ancient hyybridisation
between Eptesicus nilssonii and E. serotinus in
Europe were revealed. Specific status of E. isabellinus
and E. gobiensis were confirmed and specific identity
between E. serotinus s.str. and E. s. turcomanus
was supported. (Artyushin et al., 2009; Zootaxa, 2262)
Trophic
relations between Far East bats and owls were investigated.
Surprisingly, large percentage of bats eaten by owls is composed
by Murina species, including rarely seen M. ussuriensis.
(Shohrin, Rossina, 2009; [Animals of the mountain territories],
?., љ?љ: 513-518)
Distribution
of the poorly known alpine long-eared bat was first time investigated
on the Russian territory. Plecotus macrobullaris occurs
only in Central and Eastern Caucasus at elevations over 500
m ASL, with breading area up to 1700 m - higher than any other
Caucasian bats. (Gazaryan, 2009; [Animals of the mountain
territories], ?., љ?љ: 259-263)
