Abstract
On the basis of accessible statistics data of the last years of emissions and nuclear energy and thermal power stations of the Russian Federation, and, based on published research of domestic and foreign experts on the subject, a comparative analysis of radioactive contamination of the environment through releases from the power and working on coal power station. It is shown that the total content of radionuclide's released by thermal power plants significantly more than their contents for nuclear power plants, even for modern thermal power plants, work-melting at an angle with an ash content of no more than 10%, and equipped with filtration system, which allows holding not less than 97.5% ash. Particularly difficult for substitution for thermal-formed with respect to long-lived radioactive isotopes that are almost out of control and is several orders in large quantities. Than for nuclear power plant, with slag and discharged into the atmosphere with ash of fossil fuels (especially coal and oil shale).

Keywords: nuclear power, thermal power plants, environmental pollution, environmental safety, industrial emissions, radioactive waste, radiation safety, air quality and air pollution.
