Coherent Spectroscopy of Carbon Dioxide at Adsorption and Condensation in Nanopores

Abstract
In present thesis, CARS spectroscopy method is applied to perform diagnostics of carbon dioxide state in nano-porous glass samples with average pore diameter 4 nm and 7 nm. The peculiarities of spectral line broadening properties of low-frequency Q-branch of carbon dioxide Fermi-dyad 1/22 (1388 m-1) were studied. The measurements were performed at room (=20.5?, =22.3?, =26.0? and =26.4?) and sub-critical (=30,5 , cr=31) temperatures and at pressures up to the saturation pressure. The nonlinear response of medium allows distinguishing the spectral contributions of gaseous phase, adsorbed molecular layer and condensed liquid-like phase near the pore walls. The spectral behavior of carbon dioxide, which fills the nanopores at sub-critical temperature, corresponds to the effect of critical point shift of molecular media in nanopores. The dynamics of molecular equilibrium establishment and the manifestations of adsorption/ desorption hysteresis have been studied.
