Excitation functions were measured for reaction products resulting from the interaction of 6 Li projectiles with targets of natural platinum in an experiment using the stacked-foil activation technique. A stack, consisting of several Pt targets and energy degraders inserted between them, was mounted and irradiated at the focal plane of the magnetic spectrometer MSP-144. This method made it possible to decrease the initial energy of the beam (in the range of 22.542.5 MeV) and minimize its energy spread at the exit of the stack up to the value of 0.40 MeV, while the initial energy spread of the beam was 0.25 MeV. The identication of the reaction products (accumulated in the Pt targets) was done by their radioactive decay. The use of a stock of foils allowed getting the excitation functions for the various products for energies down to the sub-Coulomb barrier region. It was shown that the breakup-fusion reaction was the dominant channel, particularly, the capture of the deuteron from the 6 Li projectile by the target nucleus. The excitation function for this channel had its maximum at an energy close to the Coulomb barrier.
