Financial and Economic Activity of the Institutions of Municipal Self-governance of Moscow Region and the Administrative Supervision (1870-1880)

The article deals with the protests of governors against the decisions of municipal councils in Moscow province. Based on the materials of provincial prisutstvie (office) on municipal affairs, kept in the Central Historical Archive of Moscow, the author analyzes the problems of financial and economic activity of municipal public administration. The author concludes that the administrative supervision carried out by the governor, allowed effective prevention of violations of the law by self-governance institutions.
