The paper deals with the historical development of the methodology and the organization of evaluation services in the Russian Empire, as well as the current status of evaluation services in Russia. The author examines the structure, trends and problems of the evaluation services market. The author shows qualitatively different impact of different stages of privatization on the formation of evaluation services in modern Russia. The conclusion is made about the necessity of elimination of the deformations of the market of evaluation services.
