The role of E.A. Preobrazhensky in the Transformation of the Trotskyist Opposition During in 1928-1929

The article examines the political activity of one of the leaders of the “Left Opposition”, Eugene A. Preobrazhensky (1886–1937), during the time between the XV and XVI Congresses of the VKP(b). The author brings to light important historical sources, archive materials which reflect the dynamics of the views of E.A. Preobrazhensky regarding the expediency of the Trotskyist opposition after the change in socio-economic priorities in the USSR (specifically, the transition from the NEP to the planned economy). The article presented is relevant because of its scientific nature: it reveals previously unknown facts about the life and activities of E.A. Preobrazhensky.
