Goals, Methods and Channels of Southern Propaganda During the Civil War in the USA (1861-1865)

Throughout the course of modern and contemporary history propaganda has been a major factor in emergence and development of military conflicts. The article describes the role of propaganda campaign of the South against the North during the Civil War of the USA (1861–1865). The author analyses the goals, methods and channels of propaganda of the Confederation and explores the interconnection of propaganda operations with the events of the war. The author concludes that in the context of war, propaganda is formed by philosophy of the society, while the outcome of a war depends mainly on well-timed rational choice of propaganda methods.
