Tourism in Modern Russia: Specifics and Perspectives

Tourism industry is a very dynamic sector of economy, which stimulates progress in the economy as a whole. The article describes the specifics of tourism industry in Russia within the context of the latest global changes. The author examines the touristic activity and the key terms related to it, and determines the main problems of Russian tourism market. According to the author, the government support of tourism industry should focus on stimulating incoming tourism as a priority issue as well as penetrating new markets abroad in Asia-Pacific countries. Another very important issue for Russia is the creation of an attractive touristic image, both within the country and globally.
