Report of the activities of the International Department
International cooperation is one of the priorities for development of the Faculty of Global Studies. The main objective is the development of global networks (consortiums), international cooperation with foreign scientific and educational centers, mutual exchange of experience, ensuring a constant mobility of student and teaching staff in the global scientific and educational area.
Faculty implements the development programs of international cooperation in the following areas:
education of foreign students on bachelor and masters programs;
internships and training for foreign students;
organization of training internships in the best foreign universities for Russian students;
development and expansion of scientific contacts of the Faculty.
Eighteen foreign citizens submitted applications for the faculty in the framework of admissions committee on the 2013-2014 academic year (4 persons on bachelors program and 14 on masters programs). According to the results of the admission campaign, two foreign students were enrolled on bachelors program (from China, Kazakhstan) and 13 students on masters program (from Spain, USA, Turkey, Thailand, China). Thus, the total number of foreign students in the 2013-2014 academic year was 30 people.
The geography of foreign students of the Faculty
As part of the development of international cooperation of Moscow State University, 11 foreign students have passed semester internship at the Faculty of Global Studies, and one student was trained on one-year program. The geography of foreign trainees is following: Estonia, Finland, the United States, Hong Kong, Mexico. For foreign trainees seven courses on political and economic subjects are read in English in the volume of 3-5 ECTS-credits. (One ECTS-credit is equal to 36 academic hours). Studying of a course ends with an examination and / or research work.
The geography of foreign trainees of the Faculty
According to the data on March 2014, the number of foreign citizens compared with the data of the 2012-2013 academic year in absolute terms increased by 16 people from 26 to 42. The Faculty is very active in cooperation with the best universities in the world. In total for the 2013-2014 academic year 33 Russian students were sent for an internship (included education), 17 people in the fall semester, 16 people in the spring. The geography of partner universities is following:
Mexico – 2 persons;
China – 6 persons;
Italy – 4 persons;
Germany – 5 persons;
Hong Kong – 11 persons;
Switzerland – 2 persons;
Australia – 1 person;
France – 2 persons.
Students improved their knowledge in political, economic and social fields and in business and management spheres. The result of study in a foreign university becomes a certificate of completion of a semester or year-long course, and the student prepares a report about the internship on the Faculty.
