International Biological Universiade. Results

November 22, 2015 the International Biological Universiade was closed at Lomonosov Moscow State University. The Universiade is aimed at the expansion of educational space. The invitation of students from other countries contributes to the increase of adversary level of the event. In 2015 the V International Biological Universiade was attended by 46 teams. The participants from biological, medical, agricultural and biotechnological universities of the Russian Federation, as well as form Belarus, Kazakhstan, Iran and Poland competed with each other both in individual and team classifications.

The Universiade was held in two rounds. During the first, individual round 186 participants performed written assignments in biotechnology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics and plant physiology. During the second, team round the participants defended the team project in the form of the presentation report. For the first time 40 Universiade participants wrote the theoretical round and defended their work in English. The students of MSU faculties demonstrated a high standard becoming the winners in individual and team classifications. The absolute winner of the Universiade was the third-year student of the Faculty of Biology – Daniel Nikitin. Among the winners in the individual classification there are representatives of the Belarusian State University and the University of Wroclaw (Poland), the youngest member of the Universiade joined their ranks – the first-year student of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University – Nikita Alcuin. The students of Novosibirsk and St. Petersburg State Universities turned in a good performance. In the section held in English the team of the Faculty of Biology of MSU won. It consisted of Victoria Lavrenova (the captain), Daniel Nikitin, Vladimir Vyushkov and Artem Kushchenko. The second place was won by the expension team of the Faculty of Bioengineering and Bioinformatics of MSU, the third place was shared by the teams of Belarus, Iran and Kazakhstan.

Among the winners there are the team of the Faculty of Basic Medicine, Moscow State University, Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Novosibirsk State University, Arzamas branch campus of the Nizhny Novgorod State University, Saratov State University, Belgorod State University and the team of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (Obninsk Branch Campus).
