Lomonosov Moscow State University took third place in the ranking of the best universities among the BRICS countries and countries of emerging economies according to the world’s leading agency ?Times Higher Education?, December 3, 2015. This year, the Times Higher Education has greatly expanded the list of the countries supervised (from 22 to 48) and doubled the number of universities being ranked, so the total number of high schools is 200.
“In this ranking universities are evaluated in five areas: educational activity, research activity, the transfer of knowledge and the level of internationalization of students, research and teaching staff. I would like to say that Moscow University has done a great job in all these areas.
If we talk about educational activity, we are probably one of a few universities that have already been reading interdepartmental courses for students of different specialties for many years. These courses attract a significant number of students who want to broaden their horizons. Those are lectures on biotechnology, engineering and other most advanced areas of science and technology. As for research activity, I think that the projects that we are now conducting play the significant role. These are the projects with corporations and industry and a very strong and important project “Noah’s Ark”. We have set the task to create a data bank, the depositary of cells of all flesh on earth. In the direction of internationalization of education, it?s no doubt that a great role is played by our branch campuses in different countries. Now in Moscow University there is a large project related to the establishment of a joint university in China. Work is also in process to attract Chinese students for admission to MSU.
